Site plan for Water Tower Pavilion by Richie Smith
Updates
The Water Tower Pavilion is just 2 months away from its opening, and we’ve planned a debut performance on May 10th. This performance will christen our new space and kick off “Dance on Broad,” an eight-week community dance festival.
How do we get there?
-- Construction begins has begun on the grand staircase and community area connecting Broad Avenue to the loading dock.
-- Our design team began to work on the courtyard area of the Water Tower Pavilion. An industrial, active loading dock will be transformed into a vibrant, creative and dynamic space.
-- Sound, lighting, and Wi-Fi will be installed in the space. The space will be outfitted for a variety of performing arts, and free Wi-Fi (24/7) will help activate the space when not in use for performances.
-- Book vendors and artists for “Dance on Broad”
-- Launch “Dance on Broad” promotion and marketing
-- Begin scheduling programming for after “Dance on Broad”
Recent Wins
The Water Tower Depot team had an amazing time in Los Angeles for the ArtPlace Grantee Summit. The trip to LA gave us the opportunity to meet with the people behind Downtown Dance. It was great to hear best practices, successes, and challenges of some creative programmers. The meeting really helped us with our marketing planning and general logistics of the event.
Insight/Provocation
Project Plan. Project Plan. Project Plan. As we approach opening day having a concrete plan of what we need to accomplish has been key to stay focused and not get distracted. We all know a project plan is helpful but the hard work within the project plan makes crossing off every accomplished task feel a little sweeter.
Broad Avenue is full of creative and innovative thinkers who support and nurture this project. These thinkers also continue to bring ideas, projects and concepts to the conversation. It is easy to get distracted with all this great creative energy. The project plan has been an important tool to stay on track.
