The Gore Park team is currently finalizing a design that includes a large, flexible space for performances and events, as well as a small "room" for gatherings. The design also includes seating areas for everyday use of the "urban living room." The project leverages the resources, materials and public art already in the park, incorporating them into the new design, and repurposing elements such as granite walls that currently close off the space.
Plans for closing the adjacent street are also moving forward and the team is evaluating various surface treatment options and "pavement to plaza" principles that will transform the space from street to an integral part of the "living room."
Momentum around the project continues to grow with the collaborative effort of the design team, several City of San Jose departments, the San Jose Downtown Association, and the surrounding SoFA organizations.
