On September 15th Irrigate was officially launched with an event that included bubble tea, flags, participatory lawn signs, Carol Coletta speaking in St Paul and Chris Coleman, the Mayor of St Paul, spray painting a stencil on private property (he had permission)!
This has all quickly led to the beginning stages of our project, an ongoing series of Placemaking Workshops for artists connected to the Central Corridor in St Paul. Our first workshop on October 22 is full, but we are offering 5 more before the end of 2011.
Placemaking Workshops are open to anyone who considers themselves an artist and who lives, works or has a personal investment in Central Corridor Light Rail Transit (CCLRT) neighborhoods. After completing the training, artists will be eligible to apply for a Corridor Collaboration - collaborative placemaking support - through a simple and speedy application process.
In the meantime download our stencil made by local artists Broken Crow and get your own mayor to spray paint a wall or sidewalk (with chalk paint, natch)!
