Trey it Forward: Partnering with Local Hospitals
This year Trey McIntyre Project is partnering St. Luke's Children's Hospital as the Artist in Residence, performing in a casual yet therapeutic setting for staff, patients, friends and family members.
The New York Times Photo Gallery Trey McIntyre Project Dancers head into the hospital, boom-box in tow, to lighten and brighten everyone's day!
During 5 weeks this year the Trey McIntyre Project dancers will come into the hospital, and dance from bedside-to-bedside, at reception, in waiting areas, they’ll strike up conversations with patients about art and movement, and encourage patients to move their bodies in whatever way they can. Showing them that dance can happen in your fingers, toes, neck, or eyes!
Here’s a video featuring our previous partnership at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center:
The entire program is fueled with knowledge that art heals, and in order to encourage more partnerships between arts institutions and hospitals within Boise, and around the country during this program St. Luke's Children's Hospital and Trey McIntyre Project will create the metrics that will provide concrete evidence proving that this program reduces pain and increases hope.
