ARTfarm for Social Innovation: Uniting artists, underserved communities and small business to transform a waste transfer station into a self-sustaining creative village.

Somerville, MA (population 77,000) will see a new subway station open in 2016/17, which will be transformative for a community that has not had as many public transportation options as other neighborhoods.  Converting a former 2.2 acre waste transfer site, Somerville ARTFarm for Social Innovation is a self-sustaining creative commons designed to foster community betterment. ARTFarm is a platform for locally imagined programs and solutions that harness green technology, micro and culinary entrepreneurship, art/performance, urban agriculture and community building activities to address local challenges and enrich the experience of living in Somerville. Please see our website for more information:  www.somervilleartscouncil.org/artfarm
