To get the project moving in the right direction, a Steering Committee has been created to guide the decisions for the Village Longhouse project. The Steering Committee is a combination of people who include tribal employees representing various tribal departments; community members, elders, and artists; elected tribal officials; and representatives from the Makah Cultural Research Center as well as the Neah Bay Chamber of Commerce.
The Steering Committee’s first meeting will be July 22nd 2013. Our project partners, Pomegranate Center & Forterra will also be in attendance. In addition to defining the roles of the Steering Committee Members, we will also determine project timelines and bench marks to further develop what will be brought to the community dinner planned for September. We have also created a list of local artists that will meet with our project partners while they are in Neah Bay.
The Village Longhouse staff is looking forward to productive meetings with both the Steering Committee as well as the artists!
