Mayor Stodola and Piano Kraft are collaborating with three downtown schools to paint pianos that the City will roll out as our first “Street Pianos”. We’re hoping that putting pianos in public spaces will help create a new level of cultural spirit in our City. It will give people passing by the opportunity to play the piano, meet people and be a catalyst for conversation. It will also provide an opportunity for impromptu performances. Our hope is that it will prove to change the dynamics of the public space altogether. Throughout history, people have met around pianos to enjoy music and fellowship in their homes. Our Street Piano program should broaden that opportunity for the public to enjoy and, hopefully, inspire community communication and camaraderie.
