ArtPlace commissioned Transportation for America (T4A) to write and produce a rigorous national examination of creative placemaking in the transportation planning process. This resource identifies ways that transportation professionals can integrate artists to deliver transportation projects more smoothly, improve safety, and build community support.This field scan explores seven of the most pressing challenges facing the transportation sector today, and identifies how arts and cultural strategies can contribute to solutions.

In partnership with Common Future, ArtPlace's ninth field scan "Building Community Wealth: The Role of Arts and Culture in Equitable Economic Development" describes the 6 ways arts and culture advance community wealth building including: Facilitating collaboration for complex group decision-making; accessing imagination to bring new economic structures into being; building power to strengthen movements that shift local economic conditions; healing individuals and communities from extractive labor and economic practices; making the case for holistic, people-centered financing; creating new and sustaining existing forms of resource generation.
ARTPLACE FIELD SCAN: CENTERING CREATIVE YOUTH IN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT: A CREATIVE PLACEMAKING FIELD SCAN
In July 2020, ArtPlace America partnered with Creative Generation to lead a research initiative focused on arts, culture, and youth development. In our tenth and final field scan we concluded that unabashedly, young creatives believe their projects benefit both people and places and promote more just and thriving communities. Specifically, youth leading creative projects in their communities see a future where: youth increase creativity and cultivate greater agency in themselves and others; communities (people and places) are more sustainable and responsive; youth-serving organizations honor personal identity and build collective belonging; places and their populations are healthier, safer, and better able to foster wellbeing; and youth and adults catalyze intergenerational cultural continuity.
