With January already half gone, we’ve hit the ground running since the release of our 2016 call for projects to the National Creative Placemaking Fund on January 5th. Leila and I are thrilled with the responses we’ve received so far and have been humbled by the hundreds of interested applicants we’ve already met from our recent trips to Macon and Detroit.
We wanted to make sure that we highlighted some of our upcoming travel and information sessions across the US.
If you can’t make our sessions, or we won’t be travelling to your area this year; don’t fret! We’re also hosting a bunch of webinars with the same information, where we will take the time to answer any specific questions you may have.
If you want to register for any of the below webinar times, you can do so here.
January 22, 2016 at 4:30PM EST
February 2, 2016 at 8:00AM EST
February 2, 2016 at 12:30PM EST
February 3, 2016 at 5:00PM EST
In addition we’ll be hosting two Facebook chats via the ArtPlace Facebook Page to answer any quick questions you may have:
February 23rd 3:00-4:00PM EST
February 25th, 11:00AM-12:00PM EST
As a reminder, to all those considering applying this year:
In general, for the National Creative Placemaking Fund, we say that competitive project proposals typically accomplish four things:
1.) Describe a geographic community. This means literally draw boundaries on a map and tell us everything and everyone that is on the inside of that circle.
2.) Articulate a community planning and development challenge or opportunity that the community described in point one (above) wants to address that falls squarely into one of the ten planning and development sectors identified in our Community Development Matrix.
3.) Explain how arts and culture will be deployed to address the challenge or opportunity articulated in point two (above).
4.) Tell us how you will know that change is happening (i.e. benchmarks, outputs, perceptions, etc.) at the scale of community you described in point 1 (above).
